Description:
The Sales Associate will be an aspiring Account Executive. The position is a nine to twelve month progression from learning the Radio Sales position from top to bottom and inside and out. At the end of the nine to twelve month program it is expected that the Sales Associate will be ready to become a full time, experienced Account Executive. This is a salaried position, there should not be any commissions, overrides or fee's paid. The Sales Associate position is designed to provide the employee with the quality training that will allow them to fully understand the Radio business from a sales perspective. The early stages of this position will be focused on sales training, building relationships, working with the Traffic, Promotions and Programming departments in an effort to comprehend the totality of becoming an Account Executive. |
Responsibilities:
Duties to include, but not limited to: Read and review Sales Training Manual - Cold calling-Attend sales meetings and training sessions-Creating leads for Sports Director-Working with Traffic, Promotions and Programming Departments on Sales related issues-Attending Client promotions and internal promotional meetings-Learn avail tools such as Cash by Creative, arbitron, etc. Middle to late stages of the Sales Associate position will consist of shadowing Sports Director and Key account managers in order to learn the more intricate details of being a successful Account Executive. Duties to include, but not limited to: Brainstorm ideas with Sports Director-Prepare p;romotions lans, sales literature, and advertising proposals-Attend sales calls-Participate in proposals-Work on specific deals and accounts with Sports Director-Learn quantitative and qualitative research-Participate in Sales promotions-Learn how to maintain and service accounts-Investigate and resolve customer problems-Creating list of own by seeking sales process through from initial call in/lead through close and onto maintenance of account. The progression into an Account Executive is determined by the Sales Associate's ability to pick up and understand our Sales policies and procedures. |
Requirements:
The Sales Associate is an entry level position-College degree or equivalent experience in the industry preferred-Great written and interpersonal skills required-Must be a self-starter and independent worker-Must have basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)-Must have valid driver's license and vehicle with appropriate insurance. Successful candidate will possess these preferred skills: Must possess exceptional communication, presentation and negotiation skills-Must be able to utilize research appropriately and effectively in presentations-Ability to cold call resulting with in-person appointments-Must demonstrate a high degree of time management and organizational skills-Must be able to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and stress-Must demonstrate initiative and ability to manage one's business with minimal supervision. The Sales Associate position covers the spectrum of complexity, from moderately routine in the early stages of the position with the structured Sales Training approach, to the highly complex in its later stages with the successful candidate transitioning into a full time Account Executive. The position as a whole requires:-High Degree of dlexibility and ability to work with constantly changing environments. Advanced negotiation skills-Sophisticated knowledge of an dability to manage relationships as they affect clients' buying decisions-Highly complex and rapid situation analysis and response. Interpersonal skills at all levels are critical to the effectiveness of the Sales Associate position. Must be able to interact effectively, efficiently andn positive results with wide variety of personality types and professions both outside and inside the company, including all departments of the station and other CBS stations as well as with the client.Diplomacy, integrity, tact, creativity, solution orientation-all required-Ability to work with all levels of Management as well as working daily with Sales Assistants and other levels of coworkers. |
